Overview

The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for bringing new products into the manufacturing processes and production lines. They will provide technical and operational support by developing processes using Lean principles to allow for safe, effective, and efficient Production. The successful candidate will gain exposure and contribute to all areas of the business by supporting the Quality, Operations, Health & Safety & R&D departments. This role is based at our clients site in North, Co Galway. This role will report to the  Operation’s Manager.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (L8) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2-3 years’ experience is required.
  • Problem solver that is solution’s driven with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and have experience in a busy environment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PTC Creo or an alternative CAD package.
  • Excellent technical report writing, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to react and prioritise activities for the project/business need.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for new product integration, one of the key duties of this role is to take over projects from R&D and launch them into production.
  • Once launched the candidate will be responsible for maximising the quality of production.
  • Use ERP/MRP software to insure BOM’s and work instructions are up to date.
  • Develop product designs based on specifications using design for manufacture principles.
  • Carry out cost saving projects while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes & improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning. workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems in production.
  • Use PTC Creo to improve designs and make products easy to manufacture and service.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by the management team.
  • Work with departments to assess process capabilities, prioritise process improvement opportunities and implementing them using Lean Principles.
  • Ensure Quality and Production processes are working and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and project close-out documents.
  • Ensure equipment and preventative maintenance procedures are in place and effective.
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are fulfilled for the manufacturing process.
